We are seeking a Laboratory Technician to join Dr Alex Bullock’s Growth Factor Signalling Group based at the Structural Genomics Consortium (SGC), a centre of excellence for structural biology and drug discovery within the Nuffield Department of Medicine.
You will join a dynamic and successful group that aims to catalyse early drug discovery efforts on proteins of high therapeutic interest in cancer and dementia. This involves studying the 3D crystal structures, functions and small molecule inhibitor interactions of many human proteins with genetic linkage to human disease. You will provide technical support for the group and have opportunity to train further in recombinant protein expression and purification, protein crystallisation and ligand binding screens, as well as protein analysis by mass spectrometry.
You must be educated to at least A level standard (or equivalent qualification) in science as well as having a previous experience of working in a laboratory. You will work as part of a team so excellent communication skills will be essential with the ability to present results clearly and logically. You should also have the ability to organise your own work load and to take initiative where appropriate.
You should be highly motivated, organised, and able to communicate and collaborate as part of a team. Basic computing skills are essential.
This is a full-time post and is offered for a fixed-term to 30 June 2020.
If you are interested in this role, and have the skills and experience we are looking for, please apply online. You are also welcome to contact us for more details. The full job description can be found below.
