The main focus of my research group is to understand the role of transcription factors (TF) and gene regulatory networks controlling cell differentiation in vitro and during embryonic development in mammals. Our current model systems are mouse embryonic stem cells and neuronal precursor cell lines, such as PC12 and Neuro2A. We follow a candidate gene approach, where cell type-specific markers are analyzed in gain or loss of function of TF of interest during differentiation, and we are starting to use genomic approaches, such as ChIP-seq and RNAseq, in order to identify binding sites and direct and indirect target genes of these TF of interest during cell differentiation.
