Research Technician - Cell Culture

Applications are invited for a Research Technician to support the cell culture facilities at the Biotechnology Group within the Centre for Medicines Discovery (CMD) which plays a pivotal role in the early-stage drug discovery pipelines of the CMD.

 

You will be responsible for the maintenance of stocks of insect and mammalian cell lines. You will generate recombinant baculoviruses and perform small scale expression experiments by baculovirus infection, viral transduction and/or transient transfection. You will also be responsible for large scale expression of proteins from baculovirus clones and maintenance of weekly spreadsheets and ensure that all work is accurately recorded in the CMD’s electronic lab notebook and database.

It is essential that you are educated to A-Level or equivalent and have proven experience in academic or industrial laboratories in eukaryotic protein expression (insect and/or mammalian cells). You will be able to work as part of a team and be able to collaborate with colleagues on a range of projects. You will have a flexible attitude, with the ability to work with little supervision managing multiple tasks in milestone-oriented projects. It is essential that you have excellent oral, presentation, and written communication skills in order to provide reliable and precise reports.

Salary: 
Grade 4: Salary in range £22,847 - £26,341 per annum
