Postdoctoral Research Scientist – Medicinal Chemistry & Chemical Biology

The Chemical Biology & Chemical Probes group is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scientist to work on the development of first-in-class chemical ligands for E3 ligases including PROTAC handle development for new targets in oncology and inflammation. The position is funded by the EU Innovative Medicines Initiative and is a full time position. The research programme will involve interdisciplinary collaborations with other academic and industry consortium partners with emphasis on identifying new approaches to chemically modulate the ubiquitin system for drug discovery.

You will have a PhD in Chemistry or Chemical Biology with an excellent academic track record or an equivalent combination of training and experience (at least one first author publication in an internationally recognised expert journal). You should have extensive experience in preparative heterocyclic chemistry and structure-guided drug design of highly potent and selective small molecule ligands for drug target discovery and validation. Applicants with additional experience in Systems Chemical Biology approaches such as chemical proteomics or ABPP are particularly encouraged to apply. You will be a self-motivated, enthusiastic and skilled scientist with experience of independently writing scientific reports, manuscripts and contributing to funding or fellowship applications. You will work in a multidisciplinary team and therefore require strong communication skills.

Further particulars, including details of how to apply, can be obtained from the document attached. Applications for this vacancy should be made online and you will be required to upload a CV and supporting statement as part of your application as well as three references from recent employers or supervisors.
