Postdoctoral Scientist – Protein Biochemistry & Structural Biology

The Chemical Biology & Chemical Probes group is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scientist to study the structure and function of novel proteins involved in protein degradation and enable the development of first-in-class chemical ligands for E3 ligases and other targets involved in protein homeostasis. The research programme will involve interdisciplinary collaborations with other academic and industry consortium partners with emphasis on identifying new approaches to exploit the ubiquitin system for drug discovery and the development of new medicines.

You will have a PhD in biochemistry and/or structural biology with an excellent academic track record or an equivalent combination of training and experience (at least one first author publication in an internationally recognised expert journal). You should have extensive experience in protein biochemistry including expression and purification of recombinant proteins in various host systems (including insect and/or mammalian cells), structure determination by protein crystallography and cryo electron microscopy as well as biochemical and biophysical assay development. Applicants with additional experience in structure-guided design of small molecule ligands for drug discovery and fragment screening are particularly encouraged to apply. You will be a self-motivated, enthusiastic and skilled scientist with experience of independently writing scientific reports, manuscripts and contributing to funding or fellowship applications. You will work in a multidisciplinary team and therefore require strong communication skills.

Further particulars, including details of how to apply, can be obtained from the document below.

Applications for this vacancy should be made online and you will be required to upload a CV and supporting statement as part of your application as well as three references from recent employers or supervisors.
