About the role
We are seeking to recruit an outstanding postdoctoral scientist at UCL to grow research in protein biochemistry and structural biology as part of the Structural Genomics Consortium (SGC) Target 2035 Initiative, a global collaboration in the area of protein science, machine learning and data science towards improving our ability to predict molecules that bind under-studied proteins.
The role will involve the production, purification and structural characterisation of proteins and their use in biophysical/biochemical assays.
The Grade 8 role will involve the creation of an internationally leading research program. The role will be based full time at UCL but will involve extensive interactions with scientists at other SGC sites, in collaborating institutions and in the pharmaceutical industry.
About you
We are seeking someone with extensive experience in internationally competitive research. The successful candidate will be a highly organised individual with a track record in protein production in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic systems as well as structural and functional characterisation of proteins. To be appointed at Grade 8 Level, the candidate would be required to independently lead an area of biology, write high impact publications and secure independent grant funding
