Dr. Cheryl Arrowsmith Receives Robert L. Noble Prize from the Canadian Cancer Society
Dr. Cheryl Arrowsmith, Chief Scientist at SGC-Toronto, has been awarded the Robert L. Noble Prize by the Canadian Cancer Society in recognition of her significant contributions to biomedical cancer research.
Since 1993, the Canadian Cancer Society Awards for Excellence have honored Canada’s top researchers whose work has made meaningful advancements in cancer research and control.
Dr. Arrowsmith's research in epigenetics has enhanced our understanding of how proteins regulate and drive cancer. By developing chemical probes, she enables scientists to investigate these proteins to identify potential drug targets. Notably, her findings have demonstrated that inhibiting the function of a specific protein can slow the growth of leukemia and breast cancer cells, a discovery that is currently being explored for potential new treatments.
At the SGC, we are proud to celebrate Cheryl not only for her exceptional scientific achievements but also for her leadership as a mentor and her commitment to open approaches in drug discovery.
