Aled Edwards Recognized as a Fellow of the Royal Society

Dr. Aled Edwards has been elected to the Fellowship of the Royal Society, the UK’s national academy of sciences. Dr. Edwards serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Structural Genomics Consortium (SGC) and the Temerty Nexus Chair of Health Innovation and Technology at the University of Toronto. This prestigious honor acknowledges his invaluable contributions to accelerating drug discovery following an open science ethos. 

The Royal Society, the world’s oldest independent scientific academy, recognizes individuals who have significantly impacted science through its Fellowship program. Each year, up to 85 new Fellows and up to 24 new Foreign Members are elected based on their substantial contributions to natural knowledge, including mathematics, engineering science, and medical science.

The recognition by the Royal Society underscores the global impact of Dr. Edwards' work. It highlights the importance of his vision in reshaping how scientific research is conducted and shared. As a Fellow of the Royal Society, Dr. Edwards will continue to advocate for open science and collaborative research.
